Two coastguard teams were tasked to a serious incident in Co Down on Saturday morning, where a vehicle was in the water at a beach.
The Bangor and Portaferry Coastguard Rescue Teams responded to reports of a car in the water on Ballyholme Beach this morning and say on arrival to the scene, the driver was being assisted by members of the public.
"Coastguard Rescue Officers assessed the casualty whilst others officer entered the water in order to check the vehicle for other occupants," a spokesperson said.
"Police and Ambulance later arrived on scene and tended to the casualty. The scene was handed over to police and the team returned to station.
"The team would like to thank all the members of the public who reported the incident and those who helped on scene with the casualty.
"Emergency on the coast or at sea dial 999 and ask for the coastguard."
