A large number of people have gathered at a rally protesting against the imminent demolition of the Boyne Bridge in Sandy Row.
Bands and a number of men with Lambeg drums attended at the event which saw locals voice their concerns about the loss of local heritage if the bridge is pulled down.
The bridge is due to be dismantled as part of the development of the area around the new Grand Central Station. It’s demolition comes against a backdrop of other concerns in the area particularly around the supply of social housing.
The Save Sandy Row Rally saw around 200 people gather in the area next to the bridge at the King William mural at the entrance to Sandy Row where they were addressed from the top of a double decker tour bus.
