POCATELLO — A woman who allegedly stole a wallet from a pool in Pocatello and used one of the cards at a local pawn shop has been charged.
Ancelle Lombard Perry, 21, faces felony charges of criminal possession of a stolen bank card and burglary, court records show.
July 7, 2022
Pocatello police received a call reporting a theft around 7:30 p.m., according to an affidavit of probable cause.
The caller told police his wallet had been stolen from the Ross Park Aquatic Complex. He said his wallet was in the bottom of a bag of belongings. The caller told police he was unaware of the missing wallet until he received an alert that a card inside the bag had been used to make a $720 purchase at a local pawn shop.
Two additional purchases had been attempted using another card, the caller said, but those purchases had been declined.
Officers spoke with an employee at the pawn shop and received a description of a female who had made the purchase, the affidavit says.
The employee told the officers that the woman had purchased a pair of Apple AirPods and a bracelet.

Officers were informed by employees at the pawn shop that the woman who used the stolen credit card was back and attempting to return the items for cash.
Officers returned to the pawn shop and spoke with the woman, who was identified as Perry.
Perry told the officers that she found the wallet near the Pocatello zoo — which is across the street from the aquatic complex. She said that she intended to return the wallet, but instead went to the pawn shop and purchased the items.
She told officers that the wallet was at her mother’s home in Blackfoot.
Due to a lack of documentation of the alleged crimes at the time, and because the responding officer was unable to contact the original officer involved or the victim, the responding officer took Perry’s contact information and let her go.
Perry was arrested and booked at Bannock County Jail in November. She posted a $15,000 bond on March 13.
Though Perry has been charged with these crimes, it does not necessarily mean she committed them. Everyone is presumed innocent until they are proven guilty.
If she is found guilty, Perry could face up 15 years in prison.
She is scheduled to appear in court before magistrate judge Aaron Thompson Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.
