Biden heads for Caribbean paradise after 'blizzard of the century'

President Biden arrived for his tropical vacation in St Croix for a New Year’s celebration yesterday as at least 65 people have been killed in deadly blizzard conditions and others left stranded.

He will be sunning himself in the Caribbean heat at a three-bedroom beachfront villa with incredible views – despite the country being plunged into a crisis with the plummeting temperatures.

The 80-year-old awkwardly waved at photographers after landing to take some more time off amid travel chaos and widespread power outages across the country.

Frigid temperatures have caused deaths across the Midwest and East Coast, with Buffalo, in Western New York, worst affected with at least 32 deaths.

It is his first trip to the Virgin Islands since taking office, as families in New York are scrambling to find food and other essentials as military officials bar road use for safety

Erie County has been buried under more than four feet of snow, with temperatures continuing to be below freezing in the coming days.

Southwest Airlines has also left tens of thousands of travelers stranded at airports throughout the country because of the killer storm.

They canceled more than 2,600 of its flights on Tuesday, with more expected t be called off throughout the week.

The airline has already called off more than 2,400 flights on Wednesday, 1,500 on Thursday and 3,000 flights on Monday.

It is unclear if Biden has paid for his luxury vacation himself or if he is again staying for free at the home of a wealthy Democrat donor – on one of the largest US Virgin Islands.

He boarded Air Force One with his wife, Jill Biden and his two grandchildren, Natalie and Hunter, as well as his daughter Ashley Biden and her husband Howard Krein.

Biden previously stayed at the same St Croix property when he served as VP to President Obama, according to the New York Post, and visited the area at least five times between 2014 and 2016.

It is his first trip to the Virgin Islands since taking office, as families in New York are scrambling to find food and other essentials as military officials bar road use for safety.

The monster storm killed dozens of Americans over Christmas, with Erie County officials describing ‘hospitals full of bodies’ because of the storm.

The National Weather Service said the snow total at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport stood at 49.2 inches at 10 am Monday.
