Belfast City Council confirms bin collection dates over Christmas period

Belfast City Council has confirmed that over the Christmas and New Year period, there will be some changes to bin and box collections

Collection arrangements for general waste bins, recycling bins, compost bins, glass box collections and wheelie boxes may be different, depending on the area. The council has asked that households leave their bins and boxes out by 7am.

Christmas bin collection arrangements:

Normal collection date Collection information
Wednesday, December 25 (Christmas Day) Sunday, December 28
Thursday, December 26 (Boxing Day) Sunday, December 29
Tuesday, December 31 (New Year's Eve) Collections will take place as normal
Wednesday, January 1 (New Year's Day) Saturday, January 4

All other collections over the holiday period are unaffected and will be collected on the normal collection day.

Opening across Belfast City Council's recycling centres, will also see some changes across Christmas, and New Year's.

New Year's Eve 8:30am - 5:30pm
New Year's Day CLOSED
Thursday, January 2 8:30am - 5:30pm

The last entry for recycling centres will be 15 minutes before closing time on the day.
