A man has been charged following a protest in Belfast City Centre.

Large numbers turned out at counter rallies at Belfast City Hall on Sunday, March 23. Anti-immigration protesters gathered at the building’s main entrance while a counter-protest went ahead at the far side of the gates.

A PSNI statement said: "A 44-year-old man, arrested at a protest in Belfast City Centre on Sunday 23rd March has been charged with disorderly behaviour and attempted criminal damage.

"He is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court on Thursday 14th April.

"As is usual procedure, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service."
