A parade has been held in Belfast City Centre today to mark the 12th anniversary of the Union Flag protests.

It saw dozens of people march from Sandy Row to Belfast City Hall, while stopping at the Boyne Bridge, which is earmarked for demolition, where speeches were made by those who oppose the move.

The Union Flag protests started in 2012 after Belfast City Council voted to limit the number of days that the flag is flown at city hall on December 3.

A number of protests were held in the coming weeks, months and years, with some of those immediately after the decision leading to riots and attacks on the offices and homes of local politicians.

The parade to mark the anniversary started at 12.30pm today before finishing at City Hall at 2pm. They were joined by Sandy Row's Ulster First Flute Band and stopped at the Boyne Bridge, where Billy Dickson who has led the campaign against its demolition spoke to the crowd in attendance.
