Strictly Come Dancing's Pete Wicks has opened up about his relationship with Maura Higgins after she hinted at their romance on I'm A Celeb. Speaking on the Staying Relevant podcast, which he co-hosts with best mate Sam Thompson, they caught up on recent events.
Sam revealed that during his interview with Maura post-eviction from the ITV show, he had intended to avoid discussing her and Pete's relationship out of loyalty, stating "loyalty to Pete beats everything". However, Pete humorously responded: "It does until the leaving interview, and you say 'welcome to the family', so I guess that one just sort of slipped out did it? ".
Despite Sam's slip-up, it was Maura who appeared to confirm the relationship while chatting with campmates in the jungle. Later, in a candid chat on ITV's This Morning with Alison Hammond, Maura admitted: "You do forget about the cameras, and I do like to keep things private, but let's be real, I said it. I can't remember saying it, but I said the words 'I miss him'."
She said: "I do miss him, like I missed all my friends and family. Honestly, he's been so supportive, honestly. I didn't know if he was still in Strictly and I'm so proud of him, he's proud of me, and I can't wait to see him when I get back."
Last Friday (December 13) on I'm A Celeb's 'Coming Out' , viewers got to see her feelings about the TOWIE star, saying: "If you're missing someone, you're missing someone and it comes out. And I do, I miss him. Yeah, I really do miss him.", reports the Mirror.
In a conversation with Talia, she was also seen asking if Pete was still on Strictly. Following her return to the UK, she and Pete have been spotted together.
They were at the ME hotel, London, with friends, and she posted a picture on Instagram. Pete and dance partner Jowita Przystal's time on Strictly Come Dancing ended after they were in the bottom two.
They lost the dance-off to former Love Island star Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec, who secured a place in the final.
