Ballymoney security alert sees properties 'significantly damaged' after suspicious devices thrown

Two properties were "significantly damaged" after suspicious devices were thrown at them in the early hours of this morning.

Shortly after 2am this morning, November 30, police received reports of "two loud explosions" in the Carnary Drive area of Ballymoney, with a security alert announced.

Police discovered the remnants of two suspicious devices which had been thrown at properties in the area, causing significant damage.

The security alert has now ended and police are continuing their investigation with an appeal for anyone with information to get in touch.

Detective Inspector Hanbidge said: “Shortly after 2am this morning, Saturday 30th November, we received reports of two loud explosions in the area.

“Officers attended and discovered the remnants of two suspicious devices which had been thrown at two properties and exploded causing significant damage.

“This security alert was in a busy residential area and could have caused serious injury or even worse. We would like to thank residents for their understanding and patience as we conducted our investigations.

“Our enquiries are continuing and anyone with any information is asked to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 139 of 30/11/24.”
