A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in relation to a shooting in Coalisland, after the car he was in was pulled over by police for "excess speed" on Sunday.
A man in his 40s was shot through the window of his vehicle and treated in hospital for a gunshot wound to his arm. The shooting happened on October 30.
In a brief statement published on social media following the arrest, a spokesperson for the PSNI's Road Policing and Safety offered "important advice" for those who may be wanted by police and using the roads network, saying: "Don't drive like a fool. Don't let your mate drive like a fool if you’re in the car with them."

The vehicle was stopped on the M1 Motorway and the male passenger arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. The social media post revealed that the man's "chauffeur" was issued with a ticket for three penalty points and a fine for excess speed.
The NI Road Policing and Safety statement added: "As a famous tv character once said 'I pity the fool who thinks he can hide from us'."
And in a statement on Monday, PSNI Detective Inspector Ryan said: “Detectives who are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding what happened, arrested a 30-year-old man in the Moira area on Sunday afternoon, 26th January. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and was taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning.
“The man was later released on bail to allow detectives to make further enquiries into the investigation. In November 2024, detectives charged a 34-year-old man and a 43-year-old with a number of firearm related offences in connection with the investigation."
The Detective Inspector continued: "Enquiries are continuing, and we would continue appeal for anyone with information in relation to the shooting to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 1369 30/10/24."
A police spokesperson added: "You can also submit a report online using the non-emergency reporting form via http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/ Information can be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
