4 months ago 249

An arrest has been made after police stopped a car in Belfast city centre on Wednesday night.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol and tested to be 'twice the legal limit' when in custody.

Taking to social media, police have reminded the public to report any vehicles on the roads if they suspect they may be drink driving.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Last night whilst on patrol in Belfast city centre Armed response officers stopped a suspected drunk driver.

"The driver was arrested for excess alcohol, and gave an evidential sample of breath of twice the legal limit whilst in custody.

"Driving under the influence puts lives at risk – yours and others. If you have been drinking, don’t drive. It’s not worth the danger, the consequences or the cost.

"If you suspect a drink driver report it online, call 101 or 999 in an emergency."
