News conference scheduled at 10:15 p.m.
APOPKA, Fla. – Apopka police are set to hold a news briefing on Monday night to discuss a shooting investigation.
According to police, the shooting happened on Monday near the Northwest Recreation Complex.
Apopka Police Chief Mike McKinley said that at around 8:20 p.m., police responded to the recreation center over reports about the shooting during the Pop Warner football team’s practice.
Upon arrival, police were able to “secure the individual that had a firearm,” McKinley explained during a press conference.
Police said the briefing is scheduled for 10:15 p.m. at 3710 Jason Dwelley Parkway.
No additional information has been provided at this time.
