The head of the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM) engaged in productive discussions in strengthening Korean-U.S. economic cooperation during a visit to Washington for President Donald Trump's inauguration, the chamber said Tuesday.

During the visit, AMCHAM Chairman James Kim engaged in a series of high-level meetings with U.S. policymakers, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Commerce nominee Howard Lutnick, as well as U.S. senators Todd Young (R-IN) and Tammy Duckworth (D-IL).

He also met with Cho Hyun-dong, Korea's ambassador to the United States, to discuss enhancing trade and investment ties in critical industries, such as semiconductors and green energy.

Kim attended major events held as part of Trump's inauguration celebrations, including the Make America Great Again rally, the candlelight dinner and the swearing-in ceremony.

"AMCHAM looks forward to working closely with the Trump Administration to further strengthen economic ties, expand strategic partnerships and foster a thriving business environment that benefits both nations," Kim said. (Yonhap)
