One woman's flight experience took an unexpected turn the moment she boarded the plane and caught sight of her assigned seat.
Charlotte, a mum, recounted a rather bizarre flight incident on a Jet2 aircraft, sharing the story on her TikTok account. According to her, she was supposed to occupy seat 18E. However, upon inspection, she noticed that the seat lacked a standard backrest, instead featuring an abundance of yellow and black duct tape.
From the posted pictures, it is clear the tape was wrapped around the handlebars and stretched across where a passenger's back would normally rest. Not only did this appear extremely uncomfortable, but the sizeable gap left behind the seat also compromised any semblance of personal space and seclusion from fellow passengers.
Despite the alarming sight, Charlotte chose to approach the situation with a dash of humour. She accompanied a beaming selfie on TikTok with the lighthearted caption: "Laugh out loud, live laugh love @jet2 don't book seat 18E."
The images left people online stunned, with one commenter stating: "Surely not." Another disbelieving user questioned: "This has to be a joke."
A third individual empathised, commenting: "I would lose the will to live I wouldn't cope in that."
Some expressed concern over the potential impact on Charlotte's comfort during the flight, with a fourth person worrying: "Your poor back, omg."
Yet another individual concurred, pointing out the absurdity of the arrangement: "No backrest the whole flight, that is absurd."
While some raised valid concerns about health and safety procedures, others advised Charlotte to take a more relaxed attitude and stop complaining. One blunt commenter retorted: "Listen you're on the plane, you're going on holiday, you're sat down."
