Rory McIlroy need look no further than his four-year-old daughter for inspiration at the year's Masters.

Little Poppy sank a monster putt at an annual funday event on Wednesday to show proud dad Rory how it was done as he takes on the biggest test in golf for the 17th time.

The legendary shot was made at the 9th hole of the iconic Augusta course in Georgia as part of the family-orientated Par Three Contest, where players can play with their family members as caddies.

Rory and Poppy were joined by Shane Lowry and his daughter who could not contain their excitement as Poppy calmly accepted that Augusta roar from the watching fans. The traditional tournament takes place at the famous venue ahead of The Masters getting under way on Thursday.

As social media reacted, one wag suggested on X: "Her dad needs her on the bag" while another cheeky comment suggested: "Better putter than her dad already".

McIlroy goes in search of his first Masters title this week. It is the only major missing from his CV, a glaring one as he chases the career grand slam.

The Holywood golfer has already won the Open Championship, US Open and USPGA (twice). Now he wants a coveted green jacket to complete the set. Tee time for Rory is 6.12pm on Thursday April 10 as he matches with last year's runner-up Ludvig Aberg and American Akshay Bhatia
