Pacific oyster may colonize the Baltic Sea

The invasive Pacific oyster has adapted to life in less salty seas and is reproducing off the coast of Skåne, despite having been there for less than ten years. A study by researchers from the University of Gothenburg shows that the oysters may be able to colonize the western Baltic Sea in the future. The findings are published in the journal Molecular Ecology.
