A weather warning for rain has been in place across Northern Ireland for much of Wednesday – while parts of the Republic had some snow.

The wet weather marks an end to weeks of dry and sunny weather across both Northern Ireland and the Republic. A yellow weather warning for rain was issued across Northern Ireland on April 16, lasting from 2pm until 9pm.

Snow also fell in parts of Wexford and Wicklow on Wednesday. People flocked to Lough Bray on Powerscourt Mountain, with cars and tour buses stopping along the way to take pictures of the snowy mountain.

As for what we can expect from the weather in Northern Ireland over the next few days, there's no snow in the forecast, but the Met Office has advised Thursday will get off to a dry and sunny start. Cloud will bubble up throughout the day, allowing a few showers to develop. A maximum temperature of 12 C is expected.

The outlook for Friday to Sunday shows "unsettled and changeable" weather here. It's set to be cloudy with outbreaks of rain at times, with some showers expected to be "persistent and heavy at times."
