ITV Emmerdale fans 'work out' where Anthony Fox's body is as John drops huge twist

Emmerdale has thrown a curveball in the Anthony Fox murder mystery as John Sugden revealed that the elderly man's body isn't buried in the woods, but fans believe they have figured out its actual location.

In recent episodes of the popular ITV soap, it was confirmed that enigmatic paramedic John (Oliver Farnworth) had murdered Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), disposing of his body in the lake.

John has now disclosed that he didn't bury Anthony's (Nicholas Day) body in the woods after his murder by his daughter and abuse survivor, Ruby (Beth Cordingly).

This shocking revelation came after the Miligans received a bouquet of flowers with a typed message in Anthony's name, leading them to question if he might still be alive.

"Alright, okay, fine... he's not here."

Determined to ease her daughter Steph's (Georgia Jay) worries and uncover who sent the flowers, Ruby found out that a suspicious Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) was responsible, reports Leeds Live.

Aware of some tension within the family and frustrated with managing Caleb's business, Jai sent the flowers to probe into their affairs.

However, he quickly retreated when Ruby revealed that Anthony had sexually abused her during her childhood.

Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), nephew of Ruby's husband Caleb Miligan (William Ash), noticed their strained conversation, but the family's attention was diverted when they discovered Steph attempting to unearth Anthony's body in the woods.

The Emmerdale plot thickened as it was revealed there wasn't a body in the woods, leaving John's fiancé Aaron Dingle (played by Danny Miller) and fans to speculate on the true location of Anthony's remains.

John confessed to fabricating the story about the burial site, while Aaron grew frustrated with John's secretive approach.

The killer maintained that keeping the actual burial site a secret was for the best, a sentiment Caleb reluctantly agreed with, despite Aaron's irritation at being kept in the dark.

Emmerdale enthusiasts are now theorising that John may have disposed of Anthony's body in the lake, potentially alongside Nate, hence his reluctance to disclose the truth.

On social media platform X, one viewer speculated: "What if Anthony is in the water with Nate and that's why he won't tell anyone where he is because if he's found then so is Nate! #Emmerdale."

Another fan expressed their shock with: "Anthony isn't buried there, oh my god. #Emmerdale."

A third added a lighter note: "At least John's jacket is a better fit for tonight's episode. If Grandad is dead, he's probably in the lake with Nate."

Reddit also saw theories emerge, with one person posting: "So in tonight's episode, we saw John finally admit Anthony wasn't buried where he says, but he hasn't said where he really is."

They continued to ponder: "So where do we think John has put him? I think he might be in the lake, and this is what leads to Nate's body being found somehow."

Another Reddit user hazarded a guess: "I think he's either alive or in the lake with Nate."

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV and ITVX
