Emmerdale viewers reckon they've sussed out PC Swirling's long-lost son, and it turns out to be a face already known to fans.
Andy Moore, who has portrayed the copper since 2004, is one of Emmerdale's most enduring recurring characters. Throughout his tenure, PC Mike Swirling has frequently been at the heart of the village's numerous incidents.
PC Swirling, a familiar figure in the village, especially among the Dingles, found himself arresting Cain Dingle (played by Jeff Hordley) last December.
The soap stalwart had a dramatic collision with Jai Sharma's (Chris Bisson) vehicle as he hurried back to the hospital to be with Moira (Natalie J. Robb) amidst the fallout from his fling with Ruby (Beth Cordingly).
More recently, PC Swirling has been embroiled in the mystery surrounding Anthony Fox's (Nicholas Day) "disappearance", with villagers unaware that his body lies hidden after being murdered earlier this year. John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth), concealed the corpse in the woods, reports Leicestershire Live.
Next week's spoilers reveal that PC Swirling will be back on the beat, this time taking Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) into custody.
However, the latest fan theory suggests that Swirling might have a secret offspring living amongst the villagers.
On an Emmerdale Facebook fan group, a viewer speculated: "Swirling definitely should become a villager full-time. He should be involved in a big storyline, anyone else think the same?".
One person speculated: "He could have a secret child in the village!" Echoing this theory, another fan hinted at a possible dramatic twist involving John Sugden, commenting: "John? He could be helping him cover up the Anthony murder."
Enthusiastically agreeing with the speculation, a viewer remarked: " I would love this!" Adding to the mystery, another fan noted: "Same here, John is definitely not who he says he is!".
Notably, Andy, known for his role on Emmerdale, has an extensive acting resume that includes appearances in hit shows such as The Royal, The Bill and Fred and Marv. Additionally, he had a brief stint as a driver in two episodes of Coronation Street back in 2005.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
