Emmerdale fans are speculating about the true fate of Anthony Fox's body, courtesy of John Sugden.
Viewers will remember that Anthony, the abusive father of Ruby Miligan, was killed by his daughter earlier this year.
The Miligans, along with some members of the Dingle clan, have been keeping Anthony's 'disappearance' under wraps, with Aaron Dingle's future husband, John, burying the body in a woodland area.
In recent episodes, Steph, who had been on a quest to find her missing grandfather, was confronted with the shocking truth by her mother Ruby that Anthony was not only her biological father but also her grandfather due to his horrific abuse.
This revelation has left Steph deeply disturbed, yet she has agreed to help conceal his murder alongside other villagers.
However, Friday night's episode saw Steph unravel when the Miligans received flowers purportedly from Anthony. The accompanying card read: "I'm coming for you, Anthony", leading Caleb to dismiss it as a cruel prank, reports Leeds Live.
Steph, however, questioned whether they could trust John's claim that he buried Anthony, suggesting that he might still be alive. In Monday's instalment, Steph disappeared, convinced that Anthony was alive and had sent the flowers.
The plot thickened when Jai Sharma confessed to sending the flowers, prompting Ruby to reveal Anthony's abuse. A mortified Jai quickly retreated.
The episode concluded with Steph, Caleb, John, and Aaron discovering Steph in the woods, attempting to unearth what she believed to be Anthony's grave.
Upon noticing the untouched soil, their suspicion shifted to John, wondering if Anthony could still be alive after all.
In Thursday's thrilling episode, John's dark secrets were laid bare, leading him to confess: "You all agreed to trust me, yeah? So why don't we just stick to that.."
Confronted by Aaron who accused him of 'lying', John eventually conceded: "Alright, okay, fine... he's not here. I thought someone might slip up, so... I figured it was best not to tell you where he really is", while maintaining that Anthony is indeed 'dead'.
However, after John's dark secrets were exposed on Thursday's episode, soap watchers think they know where Anthony really is.
One person said: "He’s still alive is Anthony, he’s going to appear soon and cause trouble!", a different account wrote: "Who thinks Anthony is still alive #Emmerdale", another put: "Why do I think Anthony is alive all of a sudden? #Emmerdale" while another soap watcher added: "Probably saved Anthony and let him go or maybe got him locked up somewhere. He's definitely alive #emmerdale."
Emmerdale airs weekday nights at 7.30pm on ITV and STV with episodes available for streaming on ITVX and STVPlayer.
