Fans of Emmerdale are speculating that Kim Tate may be in for a rough ride in upcoming episodes.
Viewers will remember that Kim's step-grandson, Joe Tate, made a dramatic return to the village last year, harbouring a dark secret.
The shocking revelation was that Joe required a kidney transplant and, rather than seeking help from his family, he took drastic action himself.
After drugging his half-brother, Noah Dingle, and discovering he wasn't a match, Joe orchestrated a stabbing attack on his uncle Caleb Milligan to steal his kidney.
Following the surgery, Joe jetted off to Dubai to recuperate, making his return to the village this past Friday night, reports Leicestershire Live.
In recent developments, Joe has been attempting to rekindle his romance with Dawn Fletcher, despite her marriage to Billy Fletcher. The pair have been having an affair behind Billy's back.
However, viewers are sceptical about Joe's intentions, suspecting that he is using Dawn, who happens to be Kim's step-daughter, as a pawn in his plan to take over Home Farm.
Adding fuel to the fire, fans believe this could pave the way for the comeback of Joe's cousin, Jean Tate. Long-time viewers will recall that Jean, the daughter of Zoe Tate and Scott Windsor, was born in 2003.
Jean resided in the village until 2005 when she relocated to New Zealand with Zoe and Joe. Could we see Jean return after two decades to aid Joe in his plot against Kim and secure Home Farm?
Social media has been abuzz with theories about Emmerdale's character dynamics, with one fan speculating: "Anyone else hoping joe been in the village will eventually lead to his cousin Jean Tate (Zoe and Scott daughter) back to dales? Long forgotten character think she would be fairly rich and lots of family connections."
In response, another user seemed hopeful, saying: "I think grown up Jean will come back to Emmerdale. I see her as Kim's nemesis! !" and another chimed in: "I reckon should, could make play for homefarm!".
The return of Jean Tate was a hot topic amongst viewers, with comments such as: "Could maybe Jean Tate be waiting somewhere in the wings to appear? ? #emmerdale", while someone else expressed: "I was thinking about this recently. Bringing back both TJ and Jean would be very welcome right now #Emmerdale" and another noted: "Strange how Joe doesn't mention his aunt Zoe and Jean. #Emmerdale."
Meanwhile, discussions over Joe's ulterior motives were also stirred: "I think Joe is using Dawn to get his feet firmly under Kim's table. Dawn is her stepdaughter, so no matter how much Kim distrusts Joe, she will allow him and Dawn to stay."
Further speculation included: "And Joe is determined to get his sticky paws on Home Farms and probably bankrupt Kim in the process."
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
