Emmerdale has hinted at the potential return of a soap legend, spelling trouble for John Sugden.
John (played by Oliver Farnworth) made his first appearance last year, arriving in the Dales as the alleged long-lost son of Jack Sugden (Clive Hornby), quickly making an impact on the locals.
The enigmatic doctor has since found his place in the village, getting acquainted with his distant relatives - including sister Victoria (Isabel Hodgins). He also popped the question to Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).
However, a recent storyline revealed a significant twist about John, as audiences discovered his actions over the past year - including causing the death of Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter).
But there's more - the soap also unveiled that John was behind the setup of Ella Forster (Paula Lane) and is the one who drugged future mother-in-law Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter), reports Leicestershire Live.
Given his unstable and dangerous behaviour, fans have expressed their worries for Aaron, particularly as the couple are planning their wedding.
In Tuesday's episode (April 15), Chas was firm in her decision not to marry Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) next month, following the recent turmoil involving Liam's ex-partner Ella.
Chas had to put her wedding on hold, which meant she couldn't get her deposit back from the venue. However, Aaron stepped in to save the day and some money, suggesting to his mum Chas that he and John could use her original date.
But when he later shared this plan with John, he was less than pleased. Fans are now speculating that next month's wedding between John and Aaron could coincide with the dramatic return of a former soap legend. Fans have been sharing their theories online, with many predicting that the wedding will be interrupted by Aaron's ex, Robert Sugden (played by Ryan Hawley).
One Emmerdale fan posted on a Facebook page dedicated to the show: "Aaron and John getting married next month. Calling it now this is when Robert comes back," Another viewer agreed, saying: "Yup he can return and stop the wedding!" A third chimed in: "I've said this since they got engaged, perfect timing."
Another added: "I hope so!". Robert and Aaron's relationship is one of the most iconic and beloved in the soap's history. The couple began their romance in 2015 and even got married three years later in 2018. However, Robert left the village when he was sent to prison in 2019 for the death of Lee Posner (played by Kris Mochrie).
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
