Former Coronation Street actor Luca Toolan has marked his 21st birthday with a heartfelt shout-out to his mum and celebrated dad.
Best known for portraying Mason Radcliffe, the bad-boy teen of Weatherfield on the ITV soap, he made waves in 2023 with his gripping performance. His time on the Street came to an emotional end earlier this year following a compelling knife crime plotline.
The character Mason had hoped to start anew in Germany as a chef only to have his plans cut short by a tragic stabbing incident involving his brother.
Following heart-wrenching on-screen twists that led to Mason's death, Luca can now be seen celebrating his coming of age, looking quite different from his troubled Corrie counterpart.
On Instagram, Luca expressed deep appreciation for his family's influence on his life, praising his father, Mike Toolan, as a model figure in a tender post, reports Plymouth Live.
Mike, famously known as a Hits radio DJ, keeps listeners entertained during weekday afternoons, sharing the airwaves with stars like Brooke Vincent of Coronation Street and Hollyoaks' Gemma Atkinson.
In a picture he posted from his 21st birthday festivities, Luca is seen cheek to cheek with his father, both sporting dapper moustaches, as they beam at the lens for a classic birthday snapshot.
With gratitude, Luca captioned his Instagram photo: "Twenty flipping one. Genuinely feel so lucky to have such an incredible circle around me.
"From earlier school days to people I've met from acting recently, and everything in between. God bless you all."
He added: "My old man thank you for being such a supportive role model and mum thank you for being you I love you both so much."
Luca's past co-stars from Corrie were quick to post their congratulations, with Simon Barlow actor Alex Bain commenting: "Sorry I'm so late! Hope you had a brilliant day! And I hope you got the bevs in too."
Liam Mccheyne, known for playing Dylan Wilson, offered his good wishes saying: "Happy birthday pickle", accompanied by a love heart emoji.
"Mate, hope you had a lovely day!", Séamus McGoff who is behind Matty Radcliffe exclaimed. "Happy birthday brothaaaa", chimed in Charlie Wrenshall, who plays Liam Connor Jr.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV and ITVX
