Coronation Street fans are in for a treat this Friday as Carl Webster, the brother of Kevin and Debbie Webster, makes his first appearance on the show.
In the upcoming episode, Abi Webster, Kevin's wife, heads to Freshco to pick up some anti-sickness medication for her husband, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer earlier this year.
However, things take a turn when a handsome man named Carl tries to nab Abi's parking spot, leading to a minor car accident.
Abi quickly loses her cool, shouting about her husband's cancer battle and even giving Carl a bloody nose. She's left feeling embarrassed after the incident and apologises, but Carl brushes it off and returns to his car.
When his car won't start, Abi, a mechanic, offers to fix it. The plot thickens when Carl compliments Abi, calling her funny and beautiful, and asks her out for a drink.
Later, Abi recounts the car park incident to Kevin, Debbie, and Ronnie Bailey, but leaves out the part about the mutual attraction between her and the driver, reports Leicestershire Live.
In an unexpected twist, Abi returns from the restroom to find Carl chatting with the others and realises he is Kevin and Debbie's brother. As Kevin retells Abi's story, will Carl reveal that he was the man she encountered?
The role of Carl is being portrayed by actor Jonathan Howard. Jonathan, a 38-year-old actor hailing from Lancashire, honed his craft at LAMDA before achieving stardom in Hollywood.
His impressive career took off with roles in the likes of World War Z, Downton Abbey, and Thor: The Dark World all in 2013.
He continued his on-screen journey with parts in Mr Selfridge in 2014 and Godzilla: King of the Monsters in 2019. Now, he's captivating audiences as Carl Webster on Coronation Street.
Beyond the soap, Jonathan made waves last December announcing a new gig in the horror flick, The Dreadful, where he'll star opposite Sophie Turner and Kit Harington.
In his personal life, it is believed that the actor is married to actress Elodie Yung, who has starred in the likes of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Daredevil and she has more recently played the title role of Thony De La Rosa in The Cleaning Lady.
In a sweet Instagram post back in 2021, Elodie penned: "Happy birthday @mrjonathanhoward!! You are a wonderful person with a big big heart And the best husband and best Papa ever! I love you. To many more adventures together."
Coronation Street continues on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and ITV X.
