Woman killed after hitting tree in northern Idaho crash

The Idaho State Police is investigating a fatality crash that occurred on US12 at milepost 54 at 7:43 p.m. on Thursday.

A blue Nissan Sentra, driven by a 32-year-old female out of Lewiston, was traveling westbound on US12 when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The female driver was deceased on scene. The passenger, a 40-year-old male out of Orofino was transported to the area hospital. Seatbelts were not worn by either occupant.

The road was blocked for approximately 2.5 hours. Next of kin has been notified.
