The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress informed that they were amenable to the election of an executive Prime Minister by the people.
When also questioned regarding the Party’s position on the abolition of the Executive Presidency, Secretary of the Congress, President’s Counsel Nizam Kariyapper said that there were amenable to either retaining the Executive Presidency as is or restricting it a little more.
Expanding further upon the question of further restrictions imposed on the Executive Presidency, he added that the Executive President should not hold any other Ministerial portfolio except for the one pertaining to the subject of defence.
