Walawe Supercross Motor Car and Motorcycle Race will be held on September 17 in Uda Walawe, Embilipitiya for the seventh time. The organizers expect around 50,000 spectators in this year to witness the event.

This motor racing event was initiated by the Electric and Mechanical Engineering Regiment of the Sri Lanka Army in 2011 for the welfare of the families of the soldiers who laid down their lives, soldiers of the regiment who lost their limbs while in action, and to raise funds for the regiment’s welfare works.

The unique feature of this racing track is that spectators can view the whole racing track from one point. The racing track is 170 metres long and 30 metres wide with five bends in a slope terrain. The organizers claim that this racing track has been upgraded as the best gravel racing track in the island.

In the past racing events, well-known racing drivers and riders such as Upulwan Serasinghe, Ashan Silva, Gayan Sandaruwan and Shehan Sri Adikari participated in these spectacular racing events. The whole event will be telecast live by the
