The UNP will organize a ceremony to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s parliamentary career this month.

Ranil Wickremesinghe, who first came to Parliament on July 22, 1977, completes 40 years in parliament service on this July 22. He is the only UNP Parliamentarian with a continuous 40 years in service.

The celebrations will be organized with the guidance of UNP Chairman, Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade, Malik Samarawickrama and UNP, General Secretary, Minister of Public Enterprises Development, Kabir Hashim.

The celebration will recognize the introduction of the open economy by the 1977 UNP government as the first revolution and the introduction of a new governance system through the Yahapalana Government as the second revolution.
