The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has issued a statement deniying reports that it had instructed banks not to accept Qatari Riyals.

“The Central Bank of Sri Lanka categorically denies reports by various media institutions stating that “the Central Bank has informed banks not to accept Qatari Riyals,” it said in a statement.

Meanwhile, SriLankan Airways announced that it would continue its operations to Qatar despite several airlines pulling out.

Several countries including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Egypt cut all economic ties with Qatar yesterday on grounds of backing terrorism.
