Opposition Leader and Parliamentary Group Leader of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), R. Sampanthan along with several TNA members met Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on May 12 just before the latter’s departure to India.

Sampanthan during his meeting had reiterated that the TNA was agreeable for a solution within a merged North and East Provinces.

Modi arrived in the country on May 11 to declare open the United Nations Vesak Celebrations at the BMICH.

The Indian Premier had also visited the Central Province and attended an event along with the Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe where he addressed the estate sector workers.
