Last week, Alan Whitcombe, a top rugby referee was in Sri Lanka on an invitation from the Sri Lanka Society of Rugby Referees headed by Nizam Jamladeen   to address local officials and referees.

Whitcombe is the Asian referees manager and conducted workshops at the Mercantile Cricket Association Auditorium and the National Institute for Sport Science.
His visit was just what Sri Lanka needed to uplift the slumping image or referees in the country most of whom have not been able to earn the respect of rugby followers.
