President Maithripala Sirisena on Thursday (20) said that talks are underway to get South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) to list in the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE).
Addressing the heads of media organisations at the President’s House, he said that many stakeholders including the Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF), Deans and lecturers of state sector universities have expressed their views in favour of the move.
The rationale for listing in the CSE would be to ensure transparency and good governance of the educational institution that has been embroiled in several controversies since its inception.
When contacted, CSE said that they welcome all IPOs but it was still too early to discuss specifics. (CK)
