Police will play against the visiting Malaysian Police in the second game of the tour at the Police Park, Bambalapitiya on Sunday April 9. The first game was played in Kandy on Thursday.  It is going to be Sri Lankans Power Play versus Malaysians Guts. In this game, much will depend on the ability of the respective halves combination to make the best use of the good ball that comes their way.  The winners will receive the IGP Trophy, which will be presented on the aggregate of points of their two matches.
The Inaugural Sri Lanka Police and Malaysian Police Rugby match was played in 1980 in Kuala Lumpur. Police Team was led by Nimal Lewke where they had Sri Lanka players, the late Charles Wijewardena, Judi Preena,  S. Chandrapalan, Premasiri, Dayaratne, Herath Banda, Sunil Sahabandu and Murga  Jayaratne,  A. Dasanayake, Mohamed Hafeel  Marso, Mahesh Perera, A.  Dharmakeerthi. N.  Nanayakkara, Upali Vithanage,  Rohan Gunarthne,  Ajantha Samarakoon  H. Premasiri, Motha, the late Lalith Edirisinghe,  M.R.Naseeb. This tour was arranged by the late IGP Ana Seneviratne and Rugby Chairman the late IGP Rudra Rajasingham. T M Mahath was the Manager and Anton Benedict was the Coach.

The first match was played in Kuala Lumpur, and the 2nd match was played at Perak; on the way back Police Team played against Singapore Police and won the match, too. After many years, it is good to see the Malaysian Police visiting Sri Lanka for this dual contest.
