The Colombo High Court on Friday reversed a previous decision given by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court to enlarge six suspects remanded in relation to the abduction and assault of former Deputy Editor of the Nation, Keith Noyahr.

Acting upon a request made by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Colombo High Court Judge, Manilal Waidyathilaka ordered the suspects, including an army major,  to be re-remanded.

The CID in its submission to Court had cited that the suspects were charged with the possession of firearms and the use of torture both of which are non-bailable offenses.

The suspects were released by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate March 30. An identification parade which was to be held on the same day was cancelled due to the absence of Noyahr.

The case will be taken up for hearing at the Colombo High Court on May 9.
