The19th Sri Rahaula – Sri Sumangala (St. Pauls) College big match-

The Battle of the ‘Golds’- between Wariyapola Sri Sumangala  (St. Paul’s) College and  Sri  Rahaula College got off on Friday and  Saturday(25) was the second day, this one is the most looked forward sporting event of the two schools; this match was played first time in 1985. On many occasions, the matches was not played due to misunderstanding  between  the two schools.
Cricket at Wariyapola Sri Sumangala  (St. Pauls) College was first played in 1894( then known as St. Paul’s College)  and at  Sri Rahula College Katugastota  in 1890. This time   Sri Sumangala  (St. Paul’s) College  is led by   Mithun Karunarathne and has a side with players like  Avishka Pushpakumara, Chamod  Premarathne (Vice- Captain),Sandakan Ekanayake,  Miraj Rajapaksha ,Isuru Kulathunga, Shemel Neradya, Choolaka Wijekoon, Avida Bandara, Vihanga Weerathunga, Viraj Wickramasinghe, Eranga Wijesiri, Hiran Weerasinghe,Prebash Karunathilake, Chamara Bandara, Lahiru Wickramasinghe,Chathura Jayaratne, Niyomal Gunawardana, Umaga Silva. Hemantha Wimalawickrama is the coach and and   TMS Ekanayake(Master- In- Charge).

Sri Rahula Collegeis blessed with a balanced side and led by  Madushan Paranavithana, and rest of the players are Malith Rajapaksha, Udara Nawarathne, Chamika Samarasekara, Dileesha Madushanka, Krishantha Dilshan, Dharshana  Ranaraja, Gathika Wickramasinghe, Amila Kumara, Ravindu Kapukotuwa,  Chamath Kaushalya,  Aadil Haroos, Dilshan Arambegedra, Sandaruwan Wijerathne, Sayuru Ranathunga, Janith Maitipe, Hasitha Gangoda. They are coached by Mahesh BogahaL and  master-in-charge is  Janaka Ariyasinghe.
