The MBA in Entrepreneurship batch of 2017 of the University of Moratuwa will be organizing a special workshop, Diriya Niyamuwo, to help Sri Lanka’s ever expanding pool of entrepreneurs to understand the basics they need to have in place in order to start and run a strong, sustainable business.
“We think this is a timely initiative given that a lot of young people are starting their own businesses these days. Something that we have however observed is that due to mismanagement, most of these start-ups struggle and ultimately close down. Through the workshop we are trying to give the up and coming entrepreneurs a basic idea on what they need to do – from a financial context, in terms of marketing, advertising, planning and using digital media – in order to get ahead of the competition,” Nayomi de Silva, Organizer of Diriya Niyamuwo, told The Nation.
Organized in partnership with the Department of Management of Technology, this workshop will feature an eminent panel of speakers including Sancharitha Jayathilaka, CEO of Geometry Global, Saliya Withana, CEO of Sarva Digital, PJ Jayasinghe, retired Deputy General Manager, Bank of Ceylon and Managing Director of Sarva Integrated, Chrishantha Jayasinghe.
“In addition, we have Prof. AKW Jayawardena, Vice Chancellor, University of Moratuwa, Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. RA Attalage, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering KKCK Perera, Dean of the Faculty of Business ND Gunawardena, head of the Department of Management of Technology, Dinesh Samarasinghe and Dr. Nalin Abeysekara, Lecturer, Open University of Sri Lanka joining us and sharing their valuable insights at the workshop,” de Silva said.
She said that participants will get the opportunity to ‘mix and mingle’ with the speakers and to have one-on-one consultations at the event. This event is open to the public and she said interested parties can take part by reserving a spot through Nayomi (0768022244) or Heshan (0719052124) before March 25.
