Both cricket teams representing Royal and S. Thomas’ will get the experience of playing with a TV umpire in attendance during the 138th annual ‘Battle of the Blues’ which will be played from March 9-11.

The Royal-Thomian boasts of rich traditions and it must be lauded that the organizers of this encounter decided to introduce a new feature, given that these two institutes take great pains in maintaining all the old cultures associated with this great sporting event.
Dialog Axiata is the main sponsor of the match and has pledged to donate 1,000 rupees for every run and 10,000 rupees for every wicket taken during the three days of cricket. These monies will go to the ‘Play for a cause’ project.

Royal College Principal B.A Abeyratne speaking at a press briefing held in connection with the big match said, “This is not a match. This is an occasion to celebrate our history”. The Warden of S. Thomas’ College Rev. Marc Billimoria said, “What defines us and will continue to define us is not the fall but rather how well we rise after we fall”.
