A few players came under the microscope when the 83rd Joe-Pete cricket encounter got underway on Friday.
The pick of them was left arm spin bowler Mohamed Ameen who went into the match with a harvest of 100 wickets to his name.
The closest to Ameen was his team mate Chathura Obeysekera with 73 scalps and St. Joseph’s College captain Harin Cooray with 77 wickets.
Obeysekera was a member of the All-Island League Championship winning team with 11 wickets from two matches.
In the batting, Peterite Santhush Gunatilleke had an aggregate of 945 runs while the Joes batting duo of Nipun Samarasinghe (957 runs) and Dineth Madurawela (794 runs) were the pick.
Gunatilleke was a member of the Sri Lanka U-15 team that contested a tournament in Malaysia in 2014 and was adjudged player-of-the-final against South Africa.
Madurawela had four hundreds to his credit before the big match.
