Women In Management (WIM), an organization geared to promote and mobilize women leaders, recently announced that they have partnered with International Finance Corporation (IFC) which is a member of the World Bank for the seventh edition of he Top 50 Professional and Career Women Awards.

The award ceremony which is held annually serves to recognize women who inspire others with their successes in career, business and everyday life.

At the event to announce the partnership, Chairperson of Women In Management Dr. Sulochana Sigera said: “It is fitting that the theme for 2017 is Beyond Parity – Developing tomorrow’s women leaders.”

She opined that the objective of this award ceremony was to shine a light on the achievements of Sri Lanka’s most remarkable women and thereby to inspire the next generation of women leaders.”

Meanwhile Henriette Kolb, Head of the Gender Secretariat at IFC said: “When female employees are unable to realize their full economic potential, businesses, communities and economies suffer.”

“We are proud to continue supporting the work done by WIM through these awards and other training programmes to help create new opportunities for women across Sri Lanka,” she added.

Globally, IFC works to reduce gaps between men and women in the private sector, enabling companies and economies to improve their performances.

Nominations for the awards are open from February 25 to May 30, 2017. The awards ceremony will be held on July 14.
