Ajit Gunawardena

One thousand children selected from highly impoverished families in the Monaragala District will start to receive Rs. 1000.00 per month in a programme to be launched on February 23.  According to Chief Executive Officer,  Ceylinco Insurance, Ajit Gunawardena, the programme named “CEYLINCO VIP AKURATA SAVIYA” is a CSR project like no other transcending beyond corporate profits, insurance and promotions.

The selected children will start receiving the benefits from the 23rd of this month, when the programme is officially launched by Ceylinco in a ceremony officiated by Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam at Monaragala.

Grades six and seven children who are orphans, of single parents or parents afflicted with incurable disease or those affected by parental divorces will be eligible for selection.
According to Gunawardena, the programme will be extended thereafter to Anuradhapura and later will cover the entire country.
