The Road Development Authority has implemented a special census on all motor vehicles plying on Sri Lankan roads under the Macro Plan for Road Development.

A spokesman for the  RDA stated that  main objective of the census is planned on a “cost to benefit” model where the data and information gleaned will passed as dividends to the road users by way of improved infrastructure savings on time, fuel, increased productivity against the substantial capital costs incurred in road and related infrastructure development.

The census started from February will continue until April this year, where motorists will be questioned about their journeys, problems encountered, delays, improvements necessary etc, enabling RDA to map planning on a need basis. Accordingly, the RDA and the Ministry of Highways seeks the co operation of motorists to assist them as the ultimate beneficiary will be the public.
