In the 2017 inter-schools rugby season, this time,too, Kandy schools are   sure to give a good bit of run and pass rugby.  The matches are expected to be kicked off from February 21 and will span across eleven weeks with a week’s rest in April and May for the New Year and Vesak.  Rugby is already one of the fast- growing sports in Kandy, and with every school, their old boys give a big hand.  All Kandy schools are in peak form for the season.

The two segment 1A schools, on 24- St. Anthony’s College will play St. Peter’s and Dharmaraja College are expected to play defending champions Isipathana College.
Trinity College who are in the segment 2A will play Wesley College in their first outing, and Dharmaraja College are expected to play defending champions Isipathana College.  While Trinity College play their first game with Wesley College,St. Anthony’s College play with St. Peter’s  College.  Kingswood College, St. Sylvester’s College   and Vidyartha  College are in the Segment 2B, still not finalized their  games.  Then the other schools from Kandy who will be in action are Nugawella Central College, Sri Rahula College and Sri Sumangala College. Today schools and the old boys rugby associations   provide a solid base for young rugby players to plan their rugby future and also provide educational opportunities for  students with an interest in rugby.
