Two top rugby personalities from Kandy- Anil Jayasinghe (MO/CMO Strand) and Nihal Viper Gunaratne (Coaching Strand) are invited to attend the World Rugby Educators workshop to be held in Japan from February 26 to 28, 2017. For this workshop, involving representatives will be from New Zealand, Australia and Ireland. This may be the first time that two of the Kandy products have been invited.
They will have to be there by February 25, 2017, and will depart from there on March1. Their hotel accommodation is covered by Asian Rugby Union. The SLRFU will have to cover their flight costs. So, this is a good break for the two rugby promoters. Anil Jayaisnghe is a product of Vidyarhta College, and he first played club rugby for Kandy SC, and later became a top referee and coach. Nihal Viper Gunarthne is a product of St. Anthony’s College and also started his club rugby with Kandy SC.
