Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe presented the ‘Sri Lanka Sustainable Development’ draft bill yesterday in Parliament.

The bill aims to provide for the development and implementation of a national policy and strategy on sustainable development in Sri Lanka, and for the setting up of a Sustainable Development Council and for matters connected to therewith or incidental thereto.

The Joint Opposition (JO) however charged that it was the draft bill for the proposed ‘Super Ministry.’ Parliament sessions were adjourned till January 24.

Prime Minister said that it would be taken up for debate on a future date.
