Walala A. Ratnayake Central College wrestling team has won the Junior Men’s category title at the 77th National championship, organized by the Sri Lanka Wresting Federation.
The wrestlers from this school led by M.G.P. Bimsara and coached by Shane Fernando and assisted by coach N.P. Palalamure went on to win the national title. This is a great achievement by a school which has limited facilities.  A big hand should go to their principal. At this meet, the wrestlers from Manikhinna in the Kandy District overpowered other teams. Skipper M.G.P. Bimsara won the all-important 63 kg class event.

T.W.G.S.M.S. Senavisinghe pocketed the 70 kg event while T.K.N.D.Wickreamsinghe and E.M.V. Ekanayake also did well.

The champion team comprised M.G.P. Bimsara, T.W.G.S.M.S. Senavisinghe, T.K.N.D Wickremasinghe, E.M.V. Ekanayake,  A.Y.S M. Nadushanka.
