A couple who spent four months decorating their home may have the most festive home of Britain after covering their house in hundreds and thousands of bulbs. Sheila Gill, 76, and John Reynolds, 72, spent thousands of pounds perfecting their festive display to raise money for charity.
Former pub landlords John and Shelia, who started putting together their light show in August, have ‘no idea’ how many lights are now on the house but believe there are hundreds and thousands of individual bulbs.
John said: “We used to run the Irish pub and we were known then for having the best Christmas lights. When we sold up and moved four years ago, we decided to carry on the tradition at our house. It is a lot of hard work but it is worth it because every penny goes to charity. Last year we had people come from all across the country including Manchester and London. It’s great when you see the kids’ faces. We have nearly twice as many lights as last year for people to come and see. Last year the couple, who live in Newport, South Wales, raised £17,500 by charging £2 entry to their home.
