President Maithreepala Sirisena arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia a short while ago marking the commencement of his three-day visit to the country. He was joined by a local delegation comprising of Minister of Foreign affairs, Mangala Samaraweera, Palitha Thewarapperuma, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs and Deputy Minister of Foreign Employment, Manusha Nanayakkara.
The purpose of this visit is to celebrate 60 years of bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Malaysia. The delegation was received at the Air Port by Y.B Dato’ Sir Richard Riot, Minister of Human Resources of Malaysia and Ibrahim Ansar, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka.
The President will be the Chief Guest at the Business Forum to Promote Trade, Investment and Foreign Employment between Sri Lanka and Malaysia, slated to be held today. This forum will be followed by the opening of the Sri Lanka Food and Cultural Festival at Serena Brasserie at the Intercontinental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
President Maithreepala Sirisena will be meeting with the Malaysian Prime Minister tomorrow for bilateral meetings and the signing of an MoU between the two countries.
