An open cycle race for Sri Lanka’s elite racing riders organised by A.P.S. Sports Club, Mount Lavinia for the ‘Athula Memorial Challenge Trophy’ is scheduled to be conducted on December 13. The riders will face the starter’s orders from opposite Pieris Mawatha on Galle Road Mt. Lavinia.
Riders have to cover a distance of 150 kilo metres riding five laps from Mount Lavinia, Moratuwa, Piliyandala and back to the starting point which also will be the finishing point at the end of five laps. The organizers have received the approval of the Cycling Federation and their fullest assistance to conduct the event.
The winner of the race will be awarded the Athula Memorial Challenge Trophy plus a cash award of Rs. 100,000 while the first, second and third runners up will receive cash awards of Rs. 75,000, 50,000 and 25,000 respectively. Riders finishing from fifth position to fifteenth position too will receive cash awards plus gift packs.
