Transport Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva yesterday said that there would be a drastic change in the private and public bus transportation system in the country soon.

De Silva said that the government was in the process of formulating new regulations which will be introduced promptly to streamline the industry.

Speaking during the adjournment debate in Parliament, the Minister said the proposed regulations will be implemented in several phases following Cabinet approval.

He added that a committee had been appointed to issue recommendation to improve the transport industry on par with international standards.
