The senior hockey team of Seethadevi Girls College Kandy

Seethadevi Girls College Kandy emerged champions at the Blue and Gold All Island 7-a-side girls’ hockey championship organized by Royal College.

These Kandy girls gave a fine display of hockey to beat Janadapathi Vidyalaya 1-0 in the pre quarter-finals and Museaus College 1-0 in the quarters. In the semis they beat Yasodara Balika 3-0 and in the finals overcame Sangamitha Girls College 1-0 in a closely contested game. H.M.S.T. Paranagama scored the match winning goal.

The champion hockey team of Seethadevi Girls College Kandy comprised H.A.N.A. Ettipola, H.M.S.T. Paranagama, W.S.M.F Fernando, Pushpa Rajakaruna (Teacher-in-Charge) (A.M.M. Ashraf coach), H.M.C. Abeyarathne, M.D.K. Karunatilake, S.R.K. Kotadeniya, G.T. Jayarathna, I.W.N. Jayasingha and D.R. Rajapakse.

Juniors shine
In the under-13 All Island tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Hockey Federation, Seethadevi Girls College Kandy beat Sirimavo Bandranaike Balika by 8 goal to nil, Southland Girls College by 16 goals to nil and Viharamahadevi Balika 15 goals to nil.
These girls went on to score 39 goals in these three games. The captain of the team Dilhani Rajapakse scored 18 goals, P. Diviyanjali 15 goals while Lakma Ranavisi and Shehani Munawaeera scored three goals each.
